Hey, gang- don’t look now but I’ve got some Dracula art in another group art show..!
Actually, you should go take a look! My 2 recent Monsterpieces are part of the Mid-South Cartoonists Association‘s “Drawing Blood” art show at Germantown Community Theatre.
It’s in the lobby of the GCT and runs in conjunction with their play, “Dracula: The Bloody Truth“, which begins it’s run tonight, and goes through November 12th.
I also did the “Drawimg Blood” art show invitation/promo art.
We had our opening reception on Friday the 13th earlier this month.
We had a great turnout, and several pieces sold that night…including one of mine!
My piece that sold that night was a marker/pen illustration- a portrait of Al Lewis/Grandpa Munster – “You Can Call Me ‘AL’‘.
This one sold to my friends Eric and Sandra Crimmins who are gonna have Grampa come hang out at their house.
Eric is a HUGE horror fan and also had his eye on Charlie Forrester’s Dracula drawing.
Charlie sold his “Miss Lucy” ink drawing that night- he’s very persuasive..!
My other Monsterpiece was a “Scared Silly” Dracula cartoon illustration done in makers and pens- “3 Brides“.
Lots of different mediums and sizes of art were on display- many monsters and various vampires were well represented.
There was lots of great art on display by our Mid-South Cartoonists Association members- some it was their first art show!
You really should try to check it out in person. The show is available to visit during normal theatre office hours and performaces.
I was really happy to see others dress up for the occasion. Art show opening receptions are always much more fun while in costume!
We’ll have our closing recption during the MSCA @ GCT Mini-Con in the rehearsal space behind the theater on November 18th from noon-4pm. Admission is FREE!
And speaking of free things, the Halloween Comic Fest at 901 Comics East is tomorrow, Saturday the 28th from noon-4pm as well. Free comics, candy, and trading cards while they last, plus a 20% off sale, costume contest, and members of the MSCA set up in-store.
I’ll be set up at both events, and plan on doing more horror shows in 2024 like Memphis Monster Con and art events like ZineFest– with more trading cards, art prints, sketchcards, sketchcovers, paintings, and more.
