Hey gang- I got contacted by the Hernando Library this week to put up another display up in their lobby. I went again with Beetlejuice and Sam/Trick ‘r Treat.
I did one last year, and have done several over the years with Nicki or Kevin including Batman, DC Comics, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, hockey, comics/animation, MSCA, and more.
I probably could’ve filled all of the display cases with my Beetlejuice collection, but couldn’t find some of it, so I figured I’d add Sam from “Trick ‘r Treat” to fill it.
It’s a Halloween anthology movie, with a “Creepshow” kind of vibe and written/directed by Michael Dougherty.
I got to meet Michael at the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL. He was one of the writers on “Superman Returns”, “X2: X-Men United”, and “Godzilla VS Kong”, and wrote “Krampus”.
I don’t have room at home to display all of my collections, especially Batman, Beetlejuice, and my horror stuff. The library displays have not only let me share my collections and love of collecting with others, but reminds me of just how much guano I actually have..!
I always get a kick out of people stopping and chatting while I’m putting up the displays. They’ll tell me about things they had or wanted as a kid, or ask me what my oldest/rarest item is.
Probably some of my oldest is my movie button and a few of the toys (which a few I still haven’t found here.
I do have this shadow box of our engagement at the Phoenix Comic Con hanging in the hallway at home. I has a few older action figures, a mini Beetlejuice from the graveyard playset, and the finger I gave Nicki when I proposed.
One of my favorite Beetlejuice items is a lightbulb portrait by artist Chris Mason.
I’ve got a few items from the Broadway musical (not shown in this display are Playbills and a program we got in 2019 in NYC) and the recent movie sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”.
I love the animated series, and I’ve been able to pick up (or gifted) a few items based on it to go with some of my older collectibles.
I had some of my animated Beetlejuice art on display there back when we did an animation and comic book one. I didn’t put them in this display because I forgot to dig through our portfolios, but you can check them out here.
