Hey, gang- I’ve been loving the fall weather lately, but as usual my sinuses haven’t enjoyed the flip-plop seasonal transition…ugh.
For this Sat-Art-Day I’ve got some more sketchcard news for you. This time it’s really not those that I’ve recently drawn, but a new book that features some of my sketchcard work.
This summer, artist/podcaster/publisher Ingrid KV Hardy ran another very successful Kickstarter campaign for her third volume of “The Art Of Sketch Cards“, and asked me to submit some images for it.
Ingrid is a veteran sketchcard artist (Long Dog Cards) and produces The Penciled In Podcast with fellow sketchcard artist Lindsey Greyling (Leg Day Cards). I was on Episode 33 with the dynamic drawing duo and had a lot of fun talking art and sharing my origin story with them.
You can watch the episode on YouTube here, or listen on Apple or Spotify here.
Some of my Star Wars cards for Topps and MST3K and MANOS cards from RRParks CARDS were featured on one of the pages. I backed the Kickstarter and received all the goodies including Vol. 2 and 3 books, promo cards, book marks, uncut sheet, lenticular cards, blank sketchcards, and more.
It was a Kickstarter rewards week because as you saw last post I also got 3 packages delivered in one day!
Inside were my 3 trade paperbacks (Mind Place/Prom Of The Dead/The Broken Circle) from my buddy Dave Dwonch (you can hear us talk about these on Drawing Funny Episode 15 – “Party Monster” Dave Dwonch)…plus my MONSTERS trading cards from artist Mark Spears and RRParks CARDS 9th annual Trick OR Treat cards from Richard Parks – both card sets just in time for Halloween!
The NOSFERATU Series 2 card set Kickstarter campaign has been fully funded, but is still open and available for more backers through Saturday, November 5th.
Big thanks to the Tishomingo Arts Council for the recent shout out about my art on Facebook. They shared several of my sketchcards, and have been featuring other Mississippi artists on their social media. I spent a lot of time in and around Tishomingo County as a kid.
If you’re interested in doing some of your own sketchcards, you can find blanks at most art stores on online- or you can see me at any MSCA dinner meeting and I’ll hook you up with some.
The next one is this week at Garibaldi’s Pizza on Tuesday, November 1st from 6-8pm.
This week I also uploaded a new episode for Drawing Funny podcast.
Ep.46: “Tricks-N-Treats” features news on upcoming events around town for this Halloween weekend, upcoming cons, and MSCA art show news.
Speaking of Halloween, there are a couple days left to check out my work and/or purchase some online at the Monster Market.
I’ve got hand drawn artist returns and personal sketchcards, plus buttons, stickers, magnets, tees, prints and more. The online shop is open now through October 31st– www.memphismonstermarket.com.
Hope you have a happy and safe Halloween!
Beast wishes,
Lin
