Hey, gang- I’ve got more “Trilogy Of Horror” sketchcards to share with you. In my last post I showed you my hand-drawn sketchcards for “The Slasher Nurse“, and before that a couple “Coffintooth” cards. This time it’s a few from the movie “Psycho Ape Pt. 2“..!
“25 years after the events of the first film Psycho Ape, Nancy and Dr. Zoomis have settled down into a quiet life. But when bodies start piling up again will the banana be pointed back at the supposedly reformed simian?” (Click HERE to watch the trailer on YouTube.)
These all were drawn on official RRParks Cards 2.5″x3.5″ sketchcard blanks.
I started off with an HB click pencil. Sometimes I use a yellow #2 pencil, especially if I’m going to do any shading in pencil. For this one, it was mostly just line art with minimal shading. I then broke out my markers.
For coloring I used a variety of Copic markers, Ohuhu markers, Touch New markers, Weisbrandt markers, Letraset markers, and Prismacolor markers. Yeah, I’ve got a lot of markers..!
I did my linework with a black Pigma Micron pen, and highlights with a white Gelly Roll gel pen.
I did a few more highlights with a white Prismacolor pencil. Sometimes I’ll do a light dusting of Krylon Workable Fixative if I feel the card stock needs a bit of “tooth” for the colored pencil to grab.
I did the same process for this “Reservoir Dogs“ looking image…
…this card of Doctor ZOOmis, and the skeleton/banana one, too.
Once they were completed I did a light coating of Kylon Workable Spray Fixative to protect them. I recommend doing that in a well ventilated area or outdoors, especially if you live with anyone.
I had a bunch of fun monkeying around with these sketchcards!
Thanks to Richard Parks and RRParks Cards for inviting me onto the “Trilogy Of Horror“ and “The Thing“ card sets. I had fun working on his “Ultraman“, “Zorro“, “MANOS“, “Nosferatu“, “RRParks Cards Series Four” (which included MST2K), annual “Halloween Trick Or Treat” cardsets, and my “BATS” trading card set.
I’ll have some artist returns for the Trilogy and Thing sets in the near future, but for now you can check out some of my hand-drawn personal sketchcards out at The Cellar in Bartlett, TN. Each are $35ea.
