Hey, gang- Sunday I dropped off some of my artwork off to Ions: A Geek Gallery.
It’s a gallery on Main Street in downtown Memphis, TN that specializes in geek art, collectibles, photography, and more.
It’s just a couple doors down from the Arcade Restaurant and across the street from the train station.
I’ve stopped by a few times before when I was downtown for the South Main Trolley Night Art Walk (last Friday of the month 6pm-the musicians go home) and the River Arts Fest (Memphis Fine Arts Festival). I’ve got several friends who have been showing/selling their work there for the past few months. Allan Gilbreath has asked me to bring some of my work by when I’ve spoke to him at the gallery and local cons, but I really didn’t think I had anything on hand to sell at the gallery. I’ve either sold or donated all of my original paintings and didn’t have that many art prints on hand…or so I thought. Then I started going through my con box, print portfolio, and Batcave closet. Yeah, had some prints left over from the con season, had some finished sketchcovers, and some sketchcard artist returns– even found a Mickey Myers painting I forgot I still had. Gathered them all together, loaded up the Batmobile, and headed downtown to Ions.
These are some of the sketchcovers I’ll have for sale at Ions. Got several more available there, and will be working on more.
Here are some of my official artist returns sketchcards– I have Star Wars, DC Comics, Transformers, and Mars Attacks available.
I dropped off a few of my “Scared Silly” Mickey Myers and Abby Normal prints…
…as well as some Bushi Tales ones I found in my con portfolio.
And if you like my Monsterpiece paintings, I have prints of a few of those there now, too.
I haven’t set up at a lot of local cons or done any art shows lately, and haven’t done a show of my own in a while so this is a great opportunity for me to get my art out in town- and just in time for the holidays. I’ll be working on new merch for the upcoming con season, will have some new freebie promo items, and plenty of sketchcards and sketchcovers on hand. Oh, and am talking with the DeSoto Arts Council about teaching a kids cartooning class and an all ages intro to airbrushing class/demo. I’ll post more info on those when I have some confirmed dates.
Happy holidays, and geeky greetings!
Lin
